Michael Niezgoda is the former head coach for both Cross Country and Track & Field at Cottage Hill Christian Academy in Mobile, AL. In his first year as a head coach, Michael was named the Coastal Alabama Cross Country Coach of the Year and his boys team finished AHSAA 3A State Runner-Ups. At the 2015 AHSAA 1A-3A Indoor Track State Championships his girls team finished State Runner-Ups. After this event Michael was named the Coastal Alabama Indoor Track Coach of the Year. At the 2015 AHSAA 3A Outdoor Track & Field State Championships his girls team finished State Runner-Ups. Michael has helped coach over 100 All-State performances in all disciplines.
Michael previously spent 3 years as an assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Homewood High School in Homewood, AL. In those years his girls and boys teams won 6 State Championships in Cross Country and Track & Field.
A 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama, Michael is a Level 1 Certified USATF Coach. He is certified to coach across all disciples. While living in Birmingham Michael co-founded and trained with the Cahaba Distance Project, Birmingham’s Elite Distance Running Team. Cahaba runners consistently rank in the top among competitive elite athletes in the southeast.
